Music Organizations

Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) is a national non-profit organization consists of independent and collegiate music teachers. The organization offers national programs to encourage and support the art of music. www.mtna.org

New Jersey Music Teachers Association (NJMTA) is affiliated member of MTNA. The NJMTA state chapter offers its own state programs as well as encourage students to participate in national programs. www.njmta.com

Piano Teachers Forum of Central New Jesey (PTF) is an association consists of area piano teachers. The organization offers programs and workshops for teahcers and an annual festival for students. The Piano Teachers Forum Festival is a non-coompetitive opportunity for students who are evaluated by professional adjudicators.

National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) founded in 1898, is one of the largest non-profit music organizations in the nation. The NFMC is made up of 6,500 music-related clubs and organizations with over 200,000 individual members. The NFMC offers opportunities for talented musicians by conducting annual competitions. The NFMC is chartered by the Congress of the United States, and is the only music organization member of the United Nations. http://www.nfmc-music.org

The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) is another branch of four world renown conservatories in the United Kingdom (Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama). The Royal Schools of Music offers graded examinations in 30 instruments, theory, practical musicianship and singing. Exams are conducted twice a year in over 80 countries throughout the world. All examinations consist of Grade 1 to Grade 8 and beyond that candidates can progress to a Certification Program (DipABRSM, LRSM and FRSM). www.abrsm.ac.uk/usa

The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) was founded in 1886 as one of the leading music institutions in Canada. RCM conducts three sessions of Examinations to Canadian residents every year at over 300 test centers across the country. RCM offers a Certification Program for musicians who complete up to twelve grades of examinations to become an Associate of The Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT).
